Film Workshop

Film Workshop is a project developed as an independent platform for film education and film production, dedicated to young people from the region interested in movie making. Up until now, the project has seen through three editions, from which resulted several short films that went on to win awards or be selected at national and foreign festivals, like Transilvania International Film Festival, Gopo Awards, FRONTDOC. We plan to strenghten Film Workshop as a platform through next editions that will offer the cinephiles and filmmakers access to educational, skill-developing and production programs in sync with industry standards.

Film Workshop 1st edition (2015)

In the first edition we invited a group of young local filmmakers to collaborate with us in developing a series of five short films that explore, in one way or another, subjects and characters from the local community. Subsequently, three of the films we made, LIBELULA, THE PROJECTIONIST and WHITE IS THE NEW WHITE, went on to win awards or be selected at several film festivals from Romania (TIFF, Gopo Awards, Ceau Cinema!, Docuart, Filmul de Piatră, UrbanEye Film Festival, ClujShorts) and from abroad (altcineAction!, IDIF – Independent Days Internationales Filmfest, FRONTDOC International Film Festival, BEAST International Film Festival, Utah Arts Festival – Fear No Film). Also, THE PROJECTIONIST received the best short film of the year award by UCIN (National Union of Filmmakers).

Film Workshop 2nd edition (2016)

The second edition introduced the first co-productions which resulted in two short fiction films. A FEMININE COMMON NOUN, co-produced with deFilm, was selected at Anonimul International Independent Film Festival from Romania, while THE FOREST RANGER, co-produced with Alien Film,  already selected at Tallahassee Film Festival from USA.

Trailers of the short films from the first two editions are available on Youtube and Vimeo.

All three editions of The Film Workshop were implemented with the support of Municipal Centre of Culture.
